In 1995,
the Anthony Public Library, which had outgrown the Historic Carnegie
Library Building, opened a new 8,000 square foot single story facility at
Main and Jefferson to serve the community. The library houses a
collection of over 37,000 volumes. It is a "core" library
of the South Central Kansas Library System. It offers books,
magazines, newspapers, public Internet access, microfilms, videos,
cassettes, records, audiovisual equipment, talking books, large print
books, interlibrary loans, and photocopying to its patrons. A
special genealogy and local history section draws many to the community.
For the young people the library offers a summer reading program and
winter story time. The Anthony Library is available to everyone for
continuing education.
