The Board of Commissioners of the City of Anthony, Kansas met in Special session at 8:30 a.m. with Acting Mayor David Williams presiding and the following Commissioners present: Hekel, Dickey, and Hammersmith. Absent: Mayor Hatfield. Also present were Don Heidrick, City Clerk/Administrator; Grant K. Sechler, Jr., City Superintendent; John Blevins, Chief of Police; Rose Mary Saunders, Donna Crowe, Tom Hornbeck, Don Link, Bryant Anderson, and Tami Greve.

PUBLIC HEARING

At 9:00 a.m., Acting Mayor David Williams closed the Special Meeting and opened the Public Hearing to consider application to be submitted to the Kansas Department of Commerce for Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Funds under Community Facilities Category. A specific project application to be discussed is the addition to the Anthony Medical Center located at 1101 East Spring, Anthony, Kansas.

Bryant Anderson CEO for the Anthony Medical Center led the discussion and explained the CDBG Application request. The Medical Center wants to expand the physical and occupational therapy department. A rehabilitation pool and waiting room would be included. The Center is requesting $400,000 for the $1.2 million project. The Anthony Medical Center Foundation would provide matching funds of $650,000 toward the project. After discussion, Acting Mayor Williams called the meeting back into Special session.

RESOLUTION NO. 718

A RESOLUTION ASSURING THE KANSAS DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE THAT FUNDS WILL BE CONTINUALLY PROVIDED FOR THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF IMPROVEMENTS TO THE MEDICAL CENTER TO BE FINANCED WITH COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS

Mayor Williams made the motion that the City approves Resolution No. 718. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Dickey. Motion carried 4-0.

Commissioner Hammersmith made the motion that the City Commission meeting be adjourned. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Dickey. Motion carried.
